Bicentennial Activities will run from July 2nd through July 4th
All activities will take place on the scenic Sunbury Square or at Big Walnut High School.
Please join the Village of Sunbury, along with the Sunbury/Big Walnut Area Chamber of Commerce, Big Walnut Civic Association, Big Walnut Local Schools, and the Big Walnut Area Historical Society, in celebrating Sunbury's 200th Birthday! Three day events are as follows:
Saturday, July 2nd
Bicentennial Parade: "Honoring the Past, Living the Present, Building the Future"
Parade chair, Donna Evans, would like to encourage all Chamber members to help celebrate Sunbury's Bicentennial, as well as showcase your business, to one of Sunbury's best attended events!
Chris Stupski, 614-867-0735, has offered to help construct floats for a fee. Donna also suggests "googling" Floats and Float supplies for ideas. Click here for Parade Registration & Liability Waiver
Attention all Veterans who served in Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan. Veterans who served during these conflicts will be honored during the parade. Please let Donna know if you would like to participate, and reserve your spot on the Freedom Train! memadonna9@yahoo.com
Attention Volunteers! If you have extra time and would like to lend your support, Donna is looking for 30 volunteers to help in parade lineup and along the parade route. Volunteers will be issued a shirt that reads "SECURITY". Get a front row seat for the parade and be involved in what is sure to be a memorable event! Please join us on the scenic Sunbury Square as Sunbury's Ministerial Association presents an "Old Fashioned Community Picnic at the Square", an evening of fun and entertainment! Please pack a picnic basket and bring your blankets & chairs. The ministers will be providing the following concessions:
Burgers & Dogs - provided by David Sizemore (St. John Neumann Catholic Church)
Chips & Pretzels - provided by Danny Meyer (Vineyard Church of Delaware County)
Drinks - provided by Dan Brown (First Baptist Church of Sunbury)
Ice Cream - provided by Mike Mack (Sunbury United Methodist Church)

Live Music & Performances
Worship & Prayer
Tentative schedule of events:
6:30 - Old Fashioned Games - provided by Mike Bratten (Sunbury Christian Church), including a dunk tank
7:00 - First Annual Outhouse Race - provided by Rhonda Mourne (Village of Sunbury)
7:30 - Live Music - provided by Jerry Funston (The Journey Fellowship). Please gather at the Gazebo to sing some patriotic songs, familiar worship songs, and a time of prayer and fellowship.
Monday, July 4th
Freedom 5K Walk/Run commencing on the scenic Sunbury Square, beginning at 9:00 a.m. A family friendly event to kick off your Fourth of July! Chamber members,Freedom 5K sponsorships are available for $100. Your company name will appear on the t-shirts and on all printed material associated with the race.
17th Annual Corey Lehman Memorial Volleyball Tournament at BWHS will be held at Big Walnut High School and played on outdoor, grass courts. The tournament is in memory of Corey Lehman and Steve Morgenstern and in honor of Erin Smith.
