Description
PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
Sunbury United Methodist Church (SUMC) is postponing the Understanding Poverty Simulation event planned for March 21, 2020. Our first priorities are to care for the spiritual and general well-being of our church family and community. We therefore want to prevent unnecessary exposure and risk during the current Coronavirus 2019-2020 (COVID-19) pandemic. We will reschedule for a later date. We’ll send new promotions and invitations at that time. Anyone who had already registered will receive this notice directly and be notified when we have a new event date.
Sunbury United Methodist Church is hosting a Free Poverty Simulation and Discussion Event on March 21, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Participants will engage in discussions and interactive exercises that allow them to experience what a typical low-income family might face as they live month-to-month.
There are an estimated 290,000 Ohio families living in poverty. This event may be especially educational for anyone in caregiving/childcare/education/administration and other service roles so that they can learn to recognize and understand poverty from the vantage point of the individual in need.
The Understanding Poverty discussion and simulation event is free, and all are welcome.
Youth may also want to attend—we recommend age 13 or older. Please register by March 18th to reserve space. Registration is available online at www.sunburyumc.org/registrations/understanding-poverty.
